Laboratory gas scrubbers

The atea laboratory gas scrubbers are a pre-engineered and pre-designed system for use in laboratories where toxic, corrosive or smell-intensive materials are released.

The laboratory gas scrubbers are mainly used for the absorption of strong acids.

Inside the atea laboratory gas scrubber the contaminated exhaust air is brought into contact with an aqueous absorption solution. In order to achieve a high efficiency, it is important to ensure that there is a large surface area between the air and the liquid. This is achieved by distributing the liquid over a packed bed.

Depending on the type of pollutants present, the laboratory gas scrubbers can be operated by water or by pH-regulated solution (caustic or acidic). However, equipment using other dosing chemicals are available.

As required by our customers atea laboratory gas scrubbers are supplied as a complete pre-assembled unit on skid, simply requiring connection to basic utilities.

Characteristics:

  • Pre-engineered for easy installation
  • Compact design
  • High efficiency
  • Low pressure loss
  • Bi-product particles (usually salt) do not adhere to the unit
  • Minimal noise

Examples of application:

  • Scrubbing of acid vapours and mists, for example:
  • Hydrochloric acid
  • Hydrofluoric acid
  • Sulfuric acid
  • Nitric acid
  • Perchloride acid
  • Scrubbing of waste gases, for example:
  • Ammonia
  • Sulfur dioxide
  • Hydrogen sulfide
  • Chlorine
  • Scrubbing of organic materials, for example:
  • Amines
  • Mercaptanes

Polypropylene is commonly used to manufacture the system.

Other material is available upon request.
